Forrest Flame – October 2008 It is with mixed emotions that we offer our congratulations to the new owners of Forrest Flame. The Richards Family purchased this amazedly talented dressage pony for their daughter Meghan as a schoolmaster. We would like to thank them for allowing us to collect and freeze a substantial amount of frozen semen from Forrest Flame before he went under surgery for castration. We wish Forrest and Meghan all the very best in their future together. Waverly owned trained and ridden by Sally Moehring Waverly and Sally had a great summer…starting out by Waverley passing the Mare Performance Test for the ISR/Oldenburg Registry hosted at Pennock Point, Florida and then receiving a terrific score of 71.200% in the Materiale Class by Judge Sue Mandas at the Summer Sizzler 7.5/08Back in the arena 9/6/08 Waverley scored an amazing 80.450% again under Judge Mandas, winning her a very close 2nd under very tough competition.9/7/08 Waverley scored 73.750% under Sport Horse Judge Peter Hansen and Scored 70.900% under Judge Janine Malone.Congratulations Sally and Waverly! KWPN KEURING AT IRON SPRING FARM, PA. Facing tough competition, Dream On (aka McDreamy) was presented with the coveted First Premium Award and came in 2nd in his group of Rousseau foals. Included in the inspectors’ comments were that he was very correct in conformation and had very correct legs, plenty of power from behind. Dream On qualified for the Foal Championship and at the end of the day in a large group of truly outstanding foals, he placed 4th. Congratulations to his owner Erin Reardon who had purchased this outstanding colt in utero. ISR/OLDENBURG INSPECTIONS We have the pleasure of reporting on the success of friend and breeder Phyllis Hamilton with her spectacular colt named Fearless (great name). His scoring for conformation was 8.3, for movement he scored an amazing 8.5 and his overall impression score was 8.4 giving him a total score of 8.4. Fearless took home a Premium Foal Award and was Site Reserve Champion out of approx 33 foals. Fearless is a Forrest Flame foal out of a very lovely Wicked Courtjester mare named Watermark, and is a full sibling to the 2007 Premium filly named Firebird also bred by Phyllis. FAIRHILL BREED SHOW
De Feiner Star won the 2 yr old Colts & Gelding Class and scored a “9” for conformation, which qualified him for the Colt & Gelding Championship, where he took 3rd place. In the same afternoon, De Feiner Star place 2nd in a very competitive Oldenburg GOV Breed Class. Congratulations Greg & Melinda. ISR/OLDENBURG INSPECTIONS Due to the large number of foals, mare and colts to be presented with a total of 18 horses to be prepared for the inspection, we were extremely grateful that the Inspector, Christian Schacht traveled to us this year. A big thank you for all the friends and supporters who turned out to help and to Angela Sasso for running them all and Brandon Aukamp, my right hand man. First up were the mares without foals; 2005 Forrest Gund by Forrest Flame o/o Valentina by Valentino (New Forest pony) who made it into the Main Mare Book with a total score of 103 pts. 2005 Whimsical by Wicked Courtjester o/o Ster mare Wielgerma’s Maud by Nieuwmoeds Patrick thrilled us all by making it into the Premium Mare Book with a terrific score of 107 pts. Whimiscal scored an 8 for her beautiful head. 2000 Charisma by Contucci o/o Kokomo Daydream by At The Threshold bred by us and owned by Cara Klothe made it into the Main Mare Book with a total score of 103 pts. Congratulations Cara! 2008 Pony Foals Me Oh My – sire Wedderlie Mardi Gras o/o Wicked Z/Wicked Courtjester scored 7.8, 7.8, 8.0 overall score was 7.8. Me Oh My was at an awkward stage of growth standing a good couple of inches taller behind. Wembly – sire Wicked Courtjester o/o Zauberelle/Zauberklang scored 7.8, 8.3, 8.1 giving him an overall score of 8.1 Florence – sire Forrest Flame o/o Premium mare Winslette scored 8.2, 8.4, 8.3 What Evah – sire Wicked Courtjester o/o Jacodi’s Bo’s Bonnie by Merrie Moscan scored 7.9 8.2 8.1 giving her an overall score of 8.1 Warmblood Foals Fargo – sire Festraush o/o Giselle by Giotto unfortunately was a little under par on the day of inspections and had bumped his fetlock in the paddock the day before, leaving a swelling and generally was not himself. He scored 7.2, 8.0, 8.2 with an overall score of 7.9. Rather a shame as this colt is spectacular in every way and on a different day could have easily walked off with a premium award. Padrisimo – sire Pablito o/o Rockette/Reno was definitely on form and scored 8.0 8.2 8.0 with an overall score of 8.1 . Bred by us and owned by Stephanie Dixon, Padrimiso was given a Premium Foal Award. Congratulations Stephanie! We presented three 2 yr old colts for an unofficial pre inspection. First up was Far Above Par – sire Forrest Flame o/o Hoppenhof’s Merel/Braamhoeve Orian. Bred and owned by Jennifer Bingham Johnson. The Inspector was very impressed with his correct confirmation and correct way of moving and it was recommended that he be kept as a stallion prospect and be presented for the approvals next year as a 3 yr old. Congratulations Jennifer. Second up was Wasabi – sire Wicked Courtjester o/o Jacodi’s Bo’s Bonnie/Merrie Moscan. Bred and owned by Trevelyan Farm. Inspector’s comments were “walk & canter very well balanced, super trot, very powerful…..I don’t know anyone is going to be able to sit that trot…by that’s not our problem”. LOL! Last one up was De Feiner Star – sire De Laurentis o/o Feiner Dance by Feiner Stern. A warmblood colt, which like the colts above, have been in our young horse raising program since weaning. Out of Meg Sherman’s lovely mare and owned by Greg Strait and Melinda Brown both from CA., Star blew everyone away with his presence and movement. We didn’t really need the Inspector to tell us that he was a strong stallion prospect… it was clear to see. A beautiful colt in every way and we can’t wait to see more of this young stallion as he matures. Congratulations to Cory Gregory on the sale of this fabulous pony mare Winsom Courtjester.
I think there is no guessing who her sire is? ASPR Inspections hosted at Watermark Farm, PA. FF Figero and Fenwick - First Premiums! We had the pleasure of presenting FF Figero and Fenwick on behalf of breeder/owner Suzy Stafford to the ASPR. Figero is a yearling, having missed his inspection last year and Fenwick is this year's 08 colt, full siblings, both out of Quest and sired by Forrest Flame.
Both were exceptionally well behaved and it was a true delight to present them. Fenwick scored 8.2 for his type, blew us away with his trot and with his overall score of 7.8 he was awarded Reserve Champion.
Figero couldn't have been more relaxed and one of the Judge's written commented was "well mannered" as well as "Excellent use of back in the walk & good swing". He certainly impressed us, it was as though he had been showing all his life. Update on Caramel Crunch at the first ever National Pony Dressage Cup/ Cincinnati Summer Dressage Classic 6/27 - 6/29 2008 Caramel Crunch, bred by us and purchased by Dianna Orana placed 1st in Intro Test A with a 68.5% and placed 2nd in Intro B with a 69%. The National Dressage Pony Cup will hold its inaugural show on June 28th and 29th, 2008 at Paxton Farm in Cincinnati Ohio and Trevelyan Farm is proud to be a sponsor. The show was created by a group of pony owners in order to promote ponies, their breeders and riders in Dressage competition in the United States. Ponies of all breeds are invited to attend the USDF/USEF show held in conjunction with Paxton Farms Summer Classic. The ponies will be officially measured at the show unless they already have a permanent measurement card. Thanks to generous donations and sponsorships, the show will be able to award some fantastic prizes and recognize the achievements of the winning ponies. There are also rider awards for youth and adult riders, high point breed specific awards and even a special award for the oldest pony competing. Classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday, the pony cup consists of one class per day per level, Intro through FEI. Ponies may compete in more than one level and/or with more than one rider.
